Sam Thompson will run workshops with members of the SA Bonsai Society on September 24th & 25th September.

Since 2017, Sam Thompson has been the Assistant Curator of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia.  Having studied with world renowned master, Kunio Koboyashi at the Shunka-en Bonsai Museum, in Japan, Sam brings a wealth of international experience to share with the South Australian Bonsai Society.

Sam recently received 5 out of 6 awards at the ‘Bonsai Open Competition’ and has previously won multiple bonsai awards over the past 5 years. He has demonstrated internationally, whilst undertaking regular overseas training from other bonsai professionals to further his knowledge.

Sam’s exposure to large volume, high quality, bonsai maintenance of an international standard allows him to work on material with confidence and at a fast pace. His passion lies in teaching fellow bonsai enthusiasts fine tuning and maintenance techniques, rock plantings and story telling through exhibition displays.
