Annual Fig Walk
On a very warm Saturday morning, over 30 eager Club members, family and friends, assembled at the National Wine Centre for the club’s annual fig walk through the Botanic Gardens.
Andrew Ward, one of our club’s Life Members, organised the walk and guided us on a 2 hour discovery of some of the garden’s most amazing fig species. As well as being an authority on all things figs, Andrew is a volunteer guide at the Gardens for the current Chihully “Garden Cycle” exhibition and educated and entertained us as we circled the gardens and Botanic Park to visit 17 significant fig trees.
It was terrific to see so many members participating in this year’s fig walk, and a big thanks to Andrew for putting together such a great club event.
